In my opinion this one is even less successful than the last one… but it has a worthwhile moment or two. The green grid is sort of a cover-up of an awkward left hand that I drew, then didn’t like. It also covers up the contour of the hair, which seemed too big.

This belongs to a minor recurring theme of mine – the green woman. The prior piece also belongs to that series. (Perhaps the series could be entitled not entirely successfully executed green women?) I read somewhere many years ago that green can represent the magical. I painted a fairly large oil self-portrait that included a sort of mirror of myself as a green woman… symbolizing my magical feminine side. Now and then the green women recur.
