Temple Street Bridge – 17 September 2012

sketch of Temple Street Grade Separation, brush pen on paper in Sketchbook No. 63, 17 September 2012, about 11″x17″

I did this sketch today in downtown Los Angeles. It’s the Temple Street Grade Separation (over Figueroa Street), built in 1939. One of the lesser, but still nice, historic bridges in Los Angeles. I wrote a lot about bridges in my book Down By the Los Angeles River, and continue to write some about them at L.A. Creek Freak. Below is a photo I took after I finished sketching; the light had changed somewhat, but you get the idea.
