Some Train Rider Sketches – July 2012

sketches of folks waiting for and riding on the Metro Red Line, ink on paper in Sketchbook No. 62, 11 July 2012

A few selections from my sketchbook No. 62 – more folks riding (and waiting for) trains.

For the excrutiating exciting record: these two women actually weren’t sitting next to each other… the one nearer to me got off when the other got on… and I managed to just position them relative to their seat locations.

I keep expecting my brush pen to run out of ink… but, even though I can’t feel a reservoir of ink sloshing any more, it keeps on keeping on. Anyone with brush pen experience – do these kind of fade out? or does it just dry up at once?

I went down to Orange County to see/hear/enjoy Stephen Sondheim speak (thanks! Michael Oppenheim) When I was returning to L.A., there were a bunch of folks coming back from the San Diego Comics Convention. I ended up having a good long conversation with this gentleman below – Giuseppe Cristiano – an artist who did comics and does storyboarding – from Italy now working in Sweden.

For that sketch I used both gray and black brush pens… and I put the wrong year on the date.

For more transit sketching (which I manage to do a ton of), see this earlier post.
